About Mayhem Lettuce
JUST WHO DO THEY THINK THEY ARE?
Mayhem Lettuce was formed in the rural riverside community of Port Byron, IL in 1993 when two sad teenage boys decided to channel their angst into music.
That music sits at the crossroads of King Missile and Portishead with a dash of The Cure and a pinch of They Might Be Giants. Equal parts sad, silly, and spooky, Mayhem Lettuce's unique blend of indie rock, goth rock, trip-hop, spoken word, and electronica they've dubbed "Ghost Rock" was first created when Wade started playing guitar and Grahm started writing poetry and they decided to mash the two art forms together.
Their songs often feel confessional - autobiographical even. Yet, the lyrics are full of literary references and poetic symbolism which can both illuminate and obfuscate the songs' meanings, allowing for each listener to have their own interpretation.
Mayhem Lettuce is Grahm Eberhardt (vocals, keyboards, clarinet, etc.) and Wade Saathoff (guitars, bass, keyboards, drums, etc.) with occasional assistance from their various friends and relations.
